Among other things, Bevin said movies, Idiot box shows, and music lyrics that rails at the lives of others are to be blamed for the mishappening more guns. He said that violent video games have "desensitized" the importance of homo life every bit well as women'due south nobility.

"They celebrate the slaughtering of people. There are games that literally replicate and give people the ability to score points for doing the very aforementioned affair that these students are doing within of schools, where you get extra points for finishing someone off who'southward lying at that place begging for their life." – Matt Bevin

He also rebuked parents and schools for not taking enough responsibility and letting children take their own decisions without any knowledge or "fear of consequences." But every bit Ars Technica recalls, video games – and not weapon ownership laws – have been blamed for the participation of youth in violent activities since at least 1999. Media, lawmakers and prominent personalities, including former U.s. President Barack Obama, have linked several similar incidents with FPS games such every bit Doom, Counter-Strike, Call of Duty.

But practise video games really make you violent? There'south no solid respond that applies to all and fifty-fifty the research community has been divided on the matter. While data compiled past Washington Mail's Max Fisher suggests a negative correlation between game spending and violent behavior, several psychologists including those representing the American Psychological Association uphold that games, in fact, make children more than trigger-happy. A recent certificate from the World Health Organization also sees gaming as a detrimental health disorder that tin can impair senses, especially in children.
